Apart from the main character Adam, Mad Doc’s
character intrigued me. I would love to know more of Mad Doc's life story. I
hope the writer has this plan in the future.

The flash back moments of
Adam's life to his housemanship time reminds me back during the time I was a
houseman. During housemanship, anywhere, I think would have ;
- that fierce specialist/MO that live up to his/her nicknames (do we give nicknames?)
- that specialist who would find time to teach his/her junior colleagues who were just started to breath the air of hell
- that kind-hearted medical officers who still remember they were once a houseman too, and treated you like a friend
- that fellow houseman who is a know-it-all and despise other housemen for being incompetent, and make his/her job difficult
- that fellow houseman who is smart enough to leave when the shift is over
- that staff nurse who always looked down on houseman
The list can go on and on. It had its ugliness yet the kind MOs & specialists,
the thoughtful patients and supportive friends & family made it bearable.
Life as it is, has ups and down. Yes, it does take a trip down to memory lane
during HO- and MO-time that I miss much, but no, I'm not going back to the
hospital or practice medicine. (So people, please stop asking).
Back to the book, the story line is not messy
even though it's a story about the present and past time. Wordings are nicely
put and I can feel the sense of humor from the writer here and there, which made
the experience of reading it not boring. I did shed tears at some part and a
good twist of story, twice actually. The book has everything, from love to
friendship to complicated relationship, being human, qada & qadar, the
value of human life, and mistakes to learn from. This is the kind of book you
want to finish it fast because you always curious of what is next. Be lost in
the storyline.
