Froebel Professional Development Course (Level 1)

I'm graduating!

Alhamdulillah...finally completed and graduated from 4 months of Froebel Professional Development Course (FPDC). Yeay!!

Even though I had been to medical school and was a MO at paeds, this is a totally different view and experience of learning on children. Exploring play and its relation to their physical, mental, emotion, social development, and so much more. I am amazed how beautiful the natural process is, how precious and sensitive children are, how much they have taken in and how much the adults may have 'hurt' them.

This journey is not only about learning and understanding children, but also a learning and a healing process for myself. The most challenging, but also an important part is to unschool my thoughts; to unlearn and relearn. A lot of peeling happened, layers by layers, with lots of reflections, and understanding more of myself.

I don't have any children of my own, but I am a parent first for myself, my inner child. I am also here, trying to be a support system to my immediate social circle, and to learn together.

Main take-away for myself:
🌸 parent ourselves before we parent others
🌸 remember to pause, breath, reconnect with own self
🌸 childhood trauma comes in many forms, don't resent it but reflect on it, and break the cycle
🌸 set clear boundaries and learn to self regulate
🌸 trust the process
🌸 respect the children, they have their own rights too
🌸 children is the mirror of adults around them
🌸 connect before react when dealing with children
🌸 it takes a village to raise a child
🌸 change starts with us

This is not a closure, but the beginning of an awakening process. I am still learning, still healing and will continue the process.
I am grateful that throughout this journey, I have gained new friends and another safe space. Thanks for the supports. 💖

Many thanks to Ms Najmi, Ms Hani and Dr Putri Afzan Maria for their guidance. 💗

Previously the course was done physically for 1 month, full day of every weekend. Adapting to current new norm, the course now is done virtually, and ours was conducted on Friday night and Saturday morning (2 to 3 hours each session), in duration of 4 months.

I find this is more flexible and also give the chance to those outside KL/Selangor to join. Couple or partners are advised to join in separate session.

If interested, you can click on this linktree to book your seat for the next session.👇🏼

For FUTURE, PRESENT , Ex-HOUSEMAN (Including Houseman who has quit, current Medical Officer, Specialist, Consultant, Senior Consultant, Super Consultant), and THE PUBLIC to understand Recently an issue has arisen regarding our Houseman AGAIN. I noticed this because they appear on my FB Newsfeed. Two good doctors have spent their busy time to give their thoughts and opinion on this. They are quite long, but I considered both articles are worth spending your time for. They touch on similar issue, but from different perspective. If you want to see the response for this post by other people (which some I annoyed with), I attached the source as well. I like them both, and when I have the time, I will share my thoughts later. Housemanship (for future houseman)

What is housemanhip?? It’s a training programme for medical graduates who wish to work in Malaysia. Currently (as far as I know), regardless from local universities or overseas, all medical graduates have to undergo at least 2 years of housemanship (Latihan Siswazah). Why “at least 2 years”?? I’ll explain later. Within the 2 years, housemen are expected to finish 6 postings; Medical, Surgical, Paediatric, Orthopaedic, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Emergency / Anaesthesiology. Each has to go through at least 4 months for each posting. **For the 6th posting, the ministry recently (if I'm not mistaken at the end of Dec'2013) introduced houseman participation in Primary Care and Psychiatric Department, apart from Emergency or Anesthesiology Department. This is due to to overloading of medical students, Many names have been called for housemen. I have heard of many things which are not pleasant to ears, but it is the reality. Housemen are the lowest of the food chain. Wor
